Bureau of Support Services
The Bureau of Support Services often works in the background, but without their efforts, the fire district would literally come to a stop. Support Services consists of the Fleet Maintenance unit, the Wildland/Aviation unit and the Supply unit.
The Fleet Maintenance unit is responsible for keeping the district’s fleet of more than 250 vehicles in service and available for response. Their work includes routine maintenance, emergency repairs at a fire scene or station, outfitting new apparatus and placing them into service and retiring older vehicles.
The Wildland/Aviation unit is a key component of the department’s wildfire response. The unit responds to wildfires with hand crews and dozers to create firebreaks, conduct backfiring operations and assist in firefighting operations. The unit also coordinates the use of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department fleet of helicopters for water-dropping on wildfires, hand crew transportation to remote locations and search and rescue flights.
The Supply division receives and distributes all goods and material for the fire district. This includes everything from safety equipment to office supplies. The division also delivers inter-office mail and supplies to fire district locations.

Vehicle Maintenance Unit
Retain a safe, modern fleet of fire service vehicles and apparatus with an efficient preventative maintenance system as the basic component with continuing specialized education and training for certified fire mechanics.
