There are 31
fire stations throughout the Fire District. In addition to
protecting the unincorporated areas of the county, these battalions
serve the cities of Camarillo, Moorpark, Ojai, Port Hueneme,
Simi Valley, and Thousand Oaks. Fire stations are staffed
by companies utilizing structural firefighting and wildland
firefighting engines, rescue engines, medic engines, paramedic
squads, ladder trucks, and other specialized apparatus that
includes hazardous materials and urban search and rescue.
In addition to fire, rescue and medical responses, the Emergency
Services Bureau maintains a special operations component that
is responsible for countywide response to emergencies requiring
technically skilled operations. Services provided by these
specialized units include hazardous materials incident response,
swift water rescue, and confined space rescue.
The Emergency Services Bureau includes a Regional Fire Training
Center that works with all Department units to meet their
unique needs. Additionally, the Training Center provides new
firefighter trainees with a 16-week academy prior to their
first assignment and also provides specialized training for
other agencies, cities, and counties throughout the region.
