Station 51
(RIVER PARK)
3302 Turnout Park Circle
Oxnard, CA 93036 |
Fire Station 51 is situated in El Rio and serves the area. Station 51 also serves a strategic purpose in that it supports the rural areas in Ojai and the Santa Clara Valley as well as the Oxnard Plain. Originally built in 1956, this station was a combination of an engine room with small living quarters and two houses. The houses were used in the early years as homes for the captains and battalion chiefs and their families. For a while in the 70s and 80s, Station 51 was co-located with Oxnard Fire Station 4, but moved back to its old quarters and became home for a division chief, battalion chief and the three persons staffing Engine 51.
In 2006, Station 51 was relocated to the River Park area when the old station was demolished to make room for a new freeway interchange. The new station is a combined station with a new Oxnard Fire Station 7, unique with two fire stations from two different agencies, built right next to each other on the same piece of property. Station 51 houses a pumper (Engine 51); a reserve pumper (Engine 151); a brush engine (Engine 351); a van (Utility 51); and two command vehicles. |
