Fire
Station 44 serves the western portion of the City of Simi as well
as the northeastern portion of the City of Thousand Oaks. This station
was built in 1989, in response to rapid growth in the Wood Ranch area
of Simi Valley. An agreement with the developer provided land for
the station. So rapid was the growth that the District provided a
temporary station for a year before the permanent station was ready
for occupancy. Station 44 also protects the Ronald Regan Presidential Library.
The Wood Ranch Fire Station is staffed daily by three firefighters
and houses a 2000 American LaFrance pumper (Engine 44); a 2003 Freightliner/Weststates
water tender (Water Tender 44/OES Water Tender 12); a 1988 FMC Squrt with 50' articulated
boom (Engine 144); and a 1999 Ford 4X4 with trailer fire-fighting foam unit (Foam 44). The OES (Office of Emergency Services) Water Tender is provided by the State of California and can be responded to incidents throughout the state with our Firefighters providing the staffing. Also housed
at the Wood Ranch Fire Station is Truck 130, a 1987 Grumman Quint
with 1500 GPM pump and 105' aerial. This is a reserve ladder truck.
