Battalion Four - Station 42
|

Station 42
295 High St.
Moorpark, CA 93021 |
Fire Station 42 serves the central and east Moorpark areas. Its location also supports larger incidents in the Santa Clara Valley. Station 42 has occupied various locations in Moorpark throughout the years. Originally opening in 1931, it was relocated in 1942, 1953 and 2004. The previous station was a combination of an engine room with small living quarters and a house. The houses were used in the early years as homes for the captains and battalion chiefs and their families. Wives often answered the emergency phones and fed crews on the fire line. The pine tree standing in front of the station was planted at its opening. The significance being that the pine tree was the symbol used on the early department badges.
The new Station 42 has a two-story office and quarters area with a slide pole and unique architecture to blend in with the theme of the surrounding neighborhood. The Moorpark station is staffed daily by three firefighters and houses a pumper (Engine 42); reserve pumper (Engine 142); and a brush engine (Engine 342). |
