Fire
Station 35, located on Hillcrest Drive at Lawrence Drive, was built
in 1962 to serve the growing Newbury Park area and the large industrial
development north of Highway 101. The station served all of the western
side of Thousand Oaks until the construction of Station 32 in 1972
and Station 30 in 1974.
The Newbury Park Station is staffed daily by three firefighters and
houses a 1996 KME, 1500 GPM engine (Engine 35) and a 1989 Westates
reserve engine (Engine 135/OES231). The Westates engine is an Office
of Emergency Services (OES) engine, one of two in the Ventura County
Fire Department and of one hundred in the state. These engines are
owned and maintained by the state and deployed with local fire departments
to be used during disasters.
