| Although born in New York, Ms. Berns
has spent most of her life in California. She grew up in West LA attending
UCLA where she got a BA in Anthropology and USC where she obtained
her Masters degree in Public Administration. She spent the first ten
years of her career with the city of Pasadena where she started in
the budget division, moved to the city manager's office and general
services agency and then became the Public Facilities Administrator
for the city responsible for the maintenance and construction of all
city facilities as well as city purchasing. Ms. Berns then moved to
Ventura County and took a position with the Chief Executive Office
for a year and half before moving to the Fire District as its fiscal
manager. During the past ten years with the District she has managed
all of the financial aspects and has taken on the responsibilities
of the supply warehouse, human resources, risk management, facilities
maintenance and capital projects. Ms. Berns also represents the six
contract counties with the California Department of Forestry's Incident
Finance Committee. Ms. Berns is married and lives in Thousand Oaks
with her daughter and two stepsons. |
