At the Ventura County Fire Department, our motto is "Committed to excellence…Delivered with pride." This means we're looking for very special people to fill our firefighting ranks. The job is challenging, but it is also very rewarding and, although it can take years of preparation, a firefighting job is worth the work it takes to get it.
Our hiring is dependent on the needs of the department, but we typically begin the recruitment process in the summer of each year. There are three main types of recruitment:
Open Recruitment - open to any applicant.
Open Paramedic Only - open to any applicant who has a paramedic license from the California Emergency Medical Services Authority.
Countywide Promotional Recruitment - open only to persons who hold permanent status in the County service.
