Fire Department Employment Opportunities
The Ventura County Fire Department is an all-hazard, full-service firefighting agency serving more than 480,000 people in the unincorporated areas of Ventura County and cities of Camarillo, Ojai, Port Hueneme, Moorpark, Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks.
Our motto is "Committed to excellence…Delivered with pride." The three main types of recruitment include:
- Open Recruitment - open to any applicant.
- Open Paramedic Only - open to any applicant who has a paramedic license from the California Emergency Medical Services Authority.
- Department-wide Recruitment - open only to persons who hold permanent status in the County service.

VCFD’s more than 560 uniformed firefighters protect life, property and environment through fire protection, medical aid, technical rescue, hazardous materials response, public education and community service.
