A utility is a pick-up truck or van used for the general-purpose transport of people, equipment or supplies. Relief crews can be transported to major emergencies or the unit can be used when other personnel have to travel to training classes or other activities.

Although no emergency equipment is assigned to the vehicle, specialized equipment can be loaded into it and the utility can serve as a temporary squad or rescue.
